Live demo — five different builds
FAQ 2
Live demo of the SF FAQ 2 section — five expertly-customized variations on one page.
Caring for what you bought
Everything we're asked at the bench, answered by the people who make the pieces.
Will rose gold fade?
No — ours is solid 9ct, not plated, so the colour goes all the way through. Plated pieces are the ones that wear back to silver.
Can I wear it in the shower?
You can, but soap builds a film that dulls the stones. A quick dry with a soft cloth afterwards keeps it bright.
How do I get it resized?
Post it back with the enclosed insured label. Two sizes either way is free within the first year.
Do you buy back old gold?
Yes — bring anything in and we'll weigh it, quote the scrap value, and take it off the price of a new piece.
Thinking about adopting?
We rehome about 300 dogs a year. These are the questions that come up in almost every conversation.
Before you apply
Do I need a garden?
Not for every dog. Plenty of ours are happy in a flat with two decent walks — we match on temperament, not square footage.
Can I adopt if I work full time?
Yes, if the dog can be left four hours at most or you have a walker. We'll be honest about which dogs won't cope.
After the match
What if it doesn't work out?
Bring them back, no questions and no judgement. Our dogs come home to us for life — that's the whole point.
Is there support afterwards?
Free behaviour advice by phone forever, and six free sessions with our trainer in the first three months.
Leather, over time
How our bags age, what we'll mend, and how long it takes.
Can a scratched bag be repaired?
Most scuffs come out with cream and a fortnight of wear. Deep scratches we re-dye by hand at the workshop.
What does the lifetime guarantee cover?
Stitching, hardware, zips and handles, for as long as you own it. It doesn't cover the leather ageing — that's the point of it.
How long do repairs take?
Two to three weeks in the quiet months, six around Christmas. We'll tell you before you post it.
Will the colour darken?
Yes, and quite noticeably in the first year. Vegetable-tanned leather takes on a patina from light and handling.
Is the leather from a tannery you know?
One tannery in Tuscany, gold-rated by the Leather Working Group, who we've bought from since 2011.
Before you book the retreat
Three nights in the Cotswolds, and the answers to what everybody emails us first.
What's actually included?
Three nights, all meals, two treatments a day and every class on the timetable. The only extras are the bar and the shop.
Do I have to do the classes?
Not one of them. Some people book in and read by the pool for three days, and that's a perfectly good use of it.
Can you cater for allergies?
Yes — tell us at booking and the kitchen builds a separate menu. We handle coeliac and nut allergies most weeks.
Is it adults only?
Over-18s in the main house. The garden cottages take families, but the spa itself stays adults only.
Made to order, explained
Lead times, swatches, stairwells and the guarantee — the four things that decide it.
How long is the lead time?
Ten to twelve weeks for upholstery, four for case goods. Everything is made after you order it, not before.
Can I get a fabric sample?
Five free swatches, posted next day. Order more than five and it's £2, refunded when you buy.
Will it fit up my stairs?
Send us a photo of the turn and we'll tell you honestly. Most of our sofas come apart at the arms if they need to.
What's the guarantee?
Twenty-five years on the frame, ten on the suspension, two on the foam. All transferable if you sell it on.
